>>  Broadcasting The Gauguin

There's this girl in my Modern Art class. No, I've never spoken to her. But then again, it isn't exactly a very social class. But she—

She has a look. The look, if you will, that defines the New York City dynamic. Today, she sits one row back and four seats to the east of me. Right leg crossed over her left, black-rimmed glasses—I think semi-circular, but my perspective is flawed—and she's scribbling down notes at a relaxed pace.

"Do you know anyone in this class?" I'll ask her one day. And she'll say no. And I'll ask her if she wants to catch an exhibit sometime. And she'll say yes. And that'll be the beginning of something else, something completely different.

But that's just an absent-minded imagination speaking. Suddenly, beautiful, naked Tahitian women on the projector screen capture my attention. Because there's always something else, a theoretical alternative to what you're dreaming of. Always.

>>  Let's Have Sex!

Via Brian, Geoffrey Haley's The Parlor has to be the greatest gift I could receive at 7:30AM. Ultimately serious, this satirical short film brought out what we've always known into a different scenario and made me laugh till no end. Try not to read anything about it and just watch it: I'm sure it'll undoubtedly both amuse and amaze you. Quite clever, indeed. Note that Alan Ball, the executive producer of American Beauty and HBO's Six Feet Under produced this as well.

Brian linked this broadband stream (ASF Format) of the short that goes at 505k/s. Brian also located this 56k stream as well. Good stuff.

>>  For the Philosophical Enquirer

On March 7, 1999, at the ripe age of 17, I discovered a method to deciphering The Meaning of Life™. I called it the Template for the Finite. Here is a near-replica, with the addition of modern-day capitalization:

Finding out the meaning of life in three simple steps:

Step 1. Make a resolution to discover a new "truth" about life everyday.

Step 2. Take those newly discovered truths and use them to come up with newer truths and/or put them into action.

Step 3. Rinse, lather, and repeat.

But then I said something else...

Fuck that. I'd rather listen to some music.

I was probably watching too much Oprah for my own good back then.

>>  Finance & Politics

"Finance is a gun. Politics is knowing when to pull the trigger." Don Luchessi's words and Al Pacino's silent scream at the end of The Godfather, Part III summed up what were ten hours filled with tension, suspense, drama and every other genre available at your local Blockbuster. I have finally seen the trilogy. I shall no longer get stared at when admitting, "No, I haven't seen them." And I must say I'd like to say more about them, but the juiciest bits are the spoilers. And I wouldn't want to spoil it for those two people on earth who have yet to see the films.

Also, Josh and I went to take pictures at Manhattan's South Street Seaport (i.e., one block outside my dorm/apartment building) this morning around 8AM. I put up a temporary gallery of sorts so you may view the sights of my neighborhood. Note that Josh is in the ninth picture, and the turquoise-windowed building on the bottom-right corner of the tenth picture is my home.
