DEQUINIX10 *SUPERPLASTIC >>
I know you probably can't stand the pink. It
took me a very long time to adapt to it as well. But I had
to use it. I had no alternative.
*SUPERPLASTIC is, as mentioned on the front page, dedicated
to all the consumers of the world. I've cycled through the
motions over the past nine versionsthe scientific cynic,
the lost business student, the heartbroken teenagerbut
I've never really fell into the mindset where I would exploit
the world around me. Not in the material sense, at least.
All the while that I've dealt with relatively ethereal perceptions,
there's been a world of tangible items that I've neglected.
In short, I'll try my best to write in plain english. And
talk about normal things.
Something like that.
RAHAT AHMED >>
That's me. Birthdate: August 28, 1981. Birthplace:
Dhaka, Bangladesh. I traveled a lot before moving to Houston,
TX, in 1990. Since then, I've found my way here to New York
City to attend the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Been here since 2000 and am now a sophomore. My majors are
Finance and Accounting, with a minor in Fine Arts. I tend
to believe that qualifies as a well-rounded business education
mixed in with liberal arts. I could be wrong.
I like anything sensory. Music, movies, books, food. The world
around me is bursting with bubble gum flavorIt's my
job now to chew until the flavor is lost.
Music: It seems the two main types of music I listen to are
downbeat electronica and AsianPop. Generally, I'll listen
to anything once or twice. You never know what you may like
until you try it, right? My favorite artists are Radiohead,
New Order, Kruder & Dorfmeister and S.E.S.
Movies: I watch films with an open mind. I feel that if the
intent of the film was successful, no matter how bad the film,
it was successful as well. Again, that doesn't necessarily
mean I'll like it. I have six all-time favorites, you could
say: Chungking Express, Blade Runner, The Joy Luck Club, Shawshank
Redemption, Fight Club and Audrey Hepburn's Sabrina.
Books: I used to read a lot in junior high. Even got my name
on a plaque in the library. But since then, the book reading
frequency has decreased considerably. Last summer I got addicted
to Haruki Murakami and have been on a quest to find more of
his works. I've realized that I read novels as a means of
escaping: Quite often, the settings of my novels are of a
place I would rather be than a stress-filled existence where
I am. It seems Tokyo and New York City (even though I live
here) are the top two candidates. My favorite novels that
I can think of include Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood, George
Orwell's 1984, Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, Jhumpa Lahiri's
Interpreter of Maladies, Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains of the Day
and Hwee Hwee Tan's Foreign Bodies. I'm sure I've left out
a lot. (Hardy Boys, anyone?)
Food: I eat a lot. I'm way too skinny for someone who eats
as much as me. High metabolism, they say. I agree. I'll eat
anything. That's the bottom line. But the two foods I get
irregular cravings for are Iranian and Indian. I probably
take Japanese and Chinese food for granted, considering I
have them at least a few times a week. But that's okay. They
rule too.
In conclusion, buy me food. Thanks.
